Microsoft Edge Starts Phasing Out Older Browser Extensions, Completing the Switch by End of 2026

Microsoft Edge will begin turning off older-style browser add-ons for consumers in August 2026, starting with test versions before reaching the main release. The company expects to finish moving everyone to the newer extension format by end of 2026. Users will be warned before their add-ons stop working and pointed to suggested replacements where available.
