Freeland warns China's new ethnic unity law mirrors Putin's Ukraine pretext

Former deputy PM Chrystia Freeland told a Taipei forum that China's new ethnic unity law, in force since July 1, echoes Putin's "one people" rationale for invading Ukraine. Article 63 claims legal liability for anyone abroad who "undermines ethnic unity." Freeland urged democracies to declare the law has no force on their soil.
