Ceuta Migrant Crisis: 100 Dead, Thousands Stranded in Spanish Enclave

Ceuta's leader Juan Jesús Vivas told the European Parliament on 6 August that at least 100 people died when roughly 72,000 migrants crossed from Morocco into the Spanish enclave on 30–31 July. Vivas said 3,000–5,000 remain in Ceuta, a city of 80,000. Reception centres have collapsed, and Spain's government declined to attend the hearing.
