100 Dead as Thousands Cross from Morocco into Spanish City of Ceuta
Ceuta's leader Juan Jesús Vivas told the European Parliament on 6 August that at least 100 people died when roughly 72,000 migrants crossed from Morocco into Ceuta — a Spanish city on the North African coast — on 30–31 July. Vivas said 3,000–5,000 remain among Ceuta's 80,000 residents. Aid shelters have collapsed, and Spain's government skipped the hearing.
