FDA Approves First mRNA Flu Vaccine for US Adults 50+

The FDA approved Moderna's mFlusiva (mRNA-1010) for adults 50 and older, the first seasonal flu vaccine built on mRNA technology to reach the US market. Adults 50-64 received standard approval based on a 40,805-participant Phase 3 trial; those 65-plus received accelerated approval. The vaccine will be available for the 2026-27 flu season.
