FDA Approves First mRNA Seasonal Flu Vaccine for US Adults 50 and Older

The FDA approved Moderna's mFlusiva (mRNA-1010) for adults aged 50 and older, the first seasonal influenza vaccine built on mRNA technology to reach the US market. Adults 50-64 received standard approval based on a 40,805-participant Phase 3 trial; those 65 and older received accelerated approval. The vaccine will be available for the 2026-27 flu season.
