907 Hunters Pulled 280 Pythons From the Everglades — But 19,000 Removals Since 2017 Haven't Dented the Population

Over 10 days in July 2026, 907 hunters from 30 states, Canada, and Vietnam removed 280 invasive Burmese pythons from the Everglades. Combined with year-round contractor efforts, over 19,000 snakes have been removed since 2017. FWC coordinator Sarah Funck says no "silver bullet" exists for Florida's python invasion — meaning no single tool or method will solve it.
