907 Hunters Removed 280 Pythons From the Everglades; 19,000 Since 2017 Haven't Dented the Population

Over 10 days in July 2026, 907 hunters from 30 US states, Canada, and Vietnam removed 280 invasive Burmese pythons from the Everglades. Combined with year-round contractor efforts, more than 19,000 snakes have been removed since 2017. FWC program coordinator Sarah Funck says there is no "silver bullet" to solve Florida's python invasion.
