Two dead after eight-hour police siege in remote Queensland town

A 45-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were found dead after a nearly eight-hour police siege at a Charleville home, 600km west of Toowoomba. Police responded around 6pm on 5 August to reports of a serious assault; the emergency declaration lifted before 2am. No others were injured. Queensland's ethical standards command will review the police response, and a report goes to the coroner.
