Two found dead after long police standoff in rural Queensland
A 45-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were found dead after police surrounded a home in Charleville, a remote Queensland town 600km west of Toowoomba, for nearly eight hours. Police were called around 6pm on 5 August following reports of a serious assault. The standoff ended before 2am. No one else was hurt. Police watchdogs will review the response, and a report goes to the coroner.
