Two found dead after eight-hour police siege in remote Queensland town
A 45-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were found dead inside a home in Charleville, Queensland, 600km west of Toowoomba, after a nearly eight-hour police siege. Police were called to the residence around 6pm on 5 August following reports of a serious assault. The emergency declaration was lifted before 2am on 6 August. No one else was injured. Queensland's ethical standards command will investigate the police response, and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
