
Industry bodies to design senior school subjects as NCEA replacement takes shape
The government has asked Industry Skills Boards — which oversee tertiary and apprenticeship qualifications — to develop nine new Year 12 and 13 subjects, including tourism, construction, and energy and infrastructure. The subjects will be available from 2029 under new qualifications replacing NCEA. It is the first time industry bodies have had a direct role in school curriculum design.
