London grants its first autonomous taxi licences to Uber and Wayve

Transport for London licensed 15 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles running Wayve's AI software for autonomous taxi rides through the Uber app — the city's first such approval. A licensed safety driver must remain in the seat. Trips begin later this summer. Waymo and Baidu's Apollo Go are racing to launch rival services in London.
