Google Assistant Removed from Android September 4, Gemini Takes Over

Google will retire Google Assistant from Android phones, tablets, Wear OS watches, headphones, earbuds, and Android Auto starting September 4, 2026, with rollout taking several weeks. Users cannot revert. On supported devices in eligible regions, Gemini becomes the sole assistant. Google built-in vehicles, Google Home, and Google TV are unaffected.
