Google Assistant to Be Removed from Android Devices September 4, Gemini Becomes Sole Assistant

Google will remove Google Assistant from Android phones, tablets, Wear OS smartwatches, headphones, earbuds, and Android Auto starting September 4, 2026, with rollout taking up to a few weeks. Once removed, users cannot switch back. On supported devices in eligible regions, Gemini becomes the only assistant. Google built-in vehicles, Google Home, and Google TV are unaffected.
