El-Sayed Wins Michigan Senate Primary Despite Record AIPAC Spending
Abdul El-Sayed won Michigan's Democratic U.S. Senate nomination on August 4, edging Congresswoman Haley Stevens 48.9% to 47.1% with 91% of votes counted. Stevens benefited from the largest single donation from AIPAC, a major pro-Israel lobbying group, ever recorded. El-Sayed campaigned on Medicare for All and ending U.S. military aid to Israel. He faces Republican Mike Rogers in November.
