Gaza Ceasefire Fails to Halt Deaths as Phase Two Talks Stall

A ceasefire took effect in Gaza in October 2025, yet Israeli strikes have killed over 1,250 Palestinians since, including at least 26 on August 2–3, 2026. Total deaths now exceed 73,000 since October 2023. Five Israeli soldiers died in the same period. Negotiations to solidify the truce's second phase remain deadlocked over Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal.
