Ceasefire Has Not Stopped Gaza Deaths: Over 1,250 Killed Since October, Total Exceeds 73,000

A ceasefire took effect in Gaza in October 2025, yet Israeli strikes have killed more than 1,250 Palestinians since, including at least 26 over the weekend of August 2–3, 2026. Gaza's total death toll now exceeds 73,000 since October 2023. Five Israeli soldiers have died during the same period. A deal to solidify the ceasefire's second phase faces disputes over Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal.
