NICE Referral Criteria Miss Most Young Women Who Develop Breast Cancer
Cambridge and Institute of Cancer Research research, published in the British Journal of Cancer, found NICE GP-referral criteria miss up to 95% of women under 50 in England who develop breast cancer within a decade. The guidelines rely on family history, but 73% of these women have none. Researchers urge NICE to weigh these findings in its current review.
