NICE GP Referral Criteria Miss Up to 95% of Women Under 50 Who Develop Breast Cancer
A University of Cambridge and Institute of Cancer Research study published in the British Journal of Cancer found that NICE GP-referral criteria miss up to 95% of women under 50 in England who go on to develop breast cancer within 10 years. The guidelines rely on family history, yet 73% of such women have none. Researchers are urging NICE to consider the findings in its current review of family history guidelines.
