Swarbrick kicked out of Parliament over 'double standards' remark to Speaker

Green co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick was ordered out of Parliament on 4 August 2026 after telling Speaker Gerry Brownlee "the problem is your double standards." Brownlee had declined to immediately act on Winston Peters calling Chris Hipkins a "lie," while Swarbrick said she had been penalised for the same word. She stood by her comments afterwards.
