Green MP removed from Parliament after telling the Speaker he has 'double standards'

Green co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick was made to leave Parliament on 4 August 2026 after telling Speaker Gerry Brownlee "the problem is your double standards." Brownlee had not acted on Winston Peters calling Chris Hipkins a "lie," but Swarbrick said she had been punished for using the same word. She stood by her comments afterwards.
