Swarbrick ejected from Parliament after telling Speaker 'the problem is your double standards'

Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick was ordered out of the House on 4 August 2026 after telling Speaker Gerry Brownlee "the problem is your double standards." The flashpoint came after Brownlee declined to immediately rule on Winston Peters calling Chris Hipkins a "lie," while Swarbrick said she had been punished for using the same word. Swarbrick stood by her comments afterwards.
