Rep. Dan Newhouse, One of Two Remaining Impeachment Republicans, Retires
Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), one of two House Republicans still serving who voted to impeach Trump in 2021, said he will retire. Newhouse defeated Trump-backed primary challengers in 2022 and 2024 in Washington's Republican-leaning 4th District. Eleven candidates are now running for the open seat ahead of the August 4, 2026 top-two primary, which sends the two highest vote-getters to the general election.
