Rep. Dan Newhouse, Last Impeachment Republican, Retires Ahead of Primary

Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), one of two House Republicans still serving who voted to impeach Trump in 2021, announced his retirement. Newhouse survived Trump-endorsed primary challengers in 2022 and 2024 in Washington's solidly Republican 4th District. Eleven candidates now vie for the open seat ahead of the August 4, 2026 top-two primary.
