Hungary Halts Only Nuclear Plant as Drought Cuts Danube Cooling Supply

Hungary shut down most of Paks, its sole nuclear plant, after record-low Danube levels ended a 44-year cooling streak — the first drought-triggered halt there. Nuclear plants need river water to cool reactors; the Danube fell too low. A full shutdown looms as levels keep dropping. PM Péter Magyar warned "the hardest five days are ahead."
