NZ First proposes $5,000-a-year grant for new parents
NZ First leader Winston Peters wants a tax-free $5,000 yearly grant for each child's first three years, capped at three children per family. One parent must be a New Zealand citizen. The party says it would cost $400 million over three years, funded within existing budgets. Peters warned of a population decline. ACT's David Seymour said cash incentives haven't worked overseas.
