Burnham to give English city-region mayors a share of income tax

Prime Minister Andy Burnham told the BBC that English city-region mayors will receive a share of income tax revenue for the first time, plus rights to keep some business rates. Mayors will also gain control over housing, transport and skills. Chancellor John Healey will set the tax share in his autumn Budget. The package applies to England only.
