Burnham to give English city-region mayors a share of income tax for the first time

The BBC reported that Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced all English city-region mayors will receive a share of income tax revenue for the first time, plus rights to retain some business rates. Mayors will also gain control over housing, transport and skills. The exact tax share is undecided; Chancellor John Healey will set details in his autumn Budget. The package applies to England only.
