Chinese Embassy complains to MFAT over Peters' remark

The Chinese Embassy lodged a formal complaint with the Foreign Ministry after Foreign Minister Winston Peters told Green MP Lawrence Xu-Nan, who has lived in Aotearoa since 1994, to "go back to your own country" in Parliament on 30 July. Peters also said, "This is called a democracy, unlike what you're used to." His spokesperson confirmed he was briefed on the Ministry's talk with the Embassy.
