China complains to New Zealand over Peters' Parliament comment

The Chinese Embassy in Wellington has formally complained to New Zealand's Foreign Ministry. It follows Foreign Minister Winston Peters telling Green MP Lawrence Xu-Nan — who has lived here since 1994 — to "go back to your own country" in Parliament on 30 July. Peters also said, "This is called a democracy, unlike what you're used to." His spokesperson said he was told about the Ministry's chat with the Embassy.
