Ministers confirm £8.4 billion for next phase of Dreadnought submarine programme

The government confirmed £8.4 billion for the fourth phase of the Dreadnought submarine programme, the BBC reported. The money was already allocated within the Defence Investment Plan's £63.6 billion over four years. Dreadnought boats will replace the Vanguard-class submarines that have carried Trident since 1992, with both fleets transitioning in the 2030s.
