
Criminal Cases Review Commission calls for stricter eyewitness ID rules
The Criminal Cases Review Commission has tabled its first systemic inquiry report in Parliament, recommending changes to the Evidence Act 2006 to tighten eyewitness identification rules. Chief Commissioner Denis Clifford led the investigation. Nearly one-fifth of applications in its first five years involved identification issues. The report, with three recommendations, has gone to Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith.
