Cabinet approves trimmed-down Scott Base redevelopment

Cabinet has approved a scaled-back Scott Base redevelopment after Antarctica New Zealand's board said the original $306 million project was over budget. The revised plan refurbishes rather than replaces the Hillary Field Centre, adds a new Base Services Building, and upgrades ageing water and power systems. Construction starts in October, board chair Leon Grice said.
