France and Spain Wildfires Displace 300,000, Kill Three

Since mid-July 2026, wildfires across France and Spain have forced over 300,000 evacuations. France saw 220,000 displaced; two firefighters died battling Gironde blazes on July 21, and over 100 homes were destroyed near Bordeaux. In Spain, 211 zones across fourteen communities face civil protection emergencies. Fires remain only partially contained as a new heatwave approaches.
