Upston confirms 2,700 young people with health conditions face losing Jobseeker benefit
Social Development Minister Louise Upston has confirmed about 2,700 18- and 19-year-olds with health conditions, injuries or disabilities could lose their Jobseeker benefit under a parental income test. From November 2026, those whose parents earn over $65,000 will stop receiving payments. Upston told Parliament support "should come from their families." The Green Party wants them exempted.
