Trump's latest tariffs drop CUSMA exemption, threatening all compliant trade

Trump's August 19 tariffs — 50 per cent on many Canadian goods — for the first time offer no exemption for products covered by CUSMA, the North American trade pact. That removes protection for cross-border supply chains. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc and chief negotiator Janice Charette head to Washington this week to seek changes before the measures take effect.
