Anthropic's Amodei endorses chip export controls, putting the AI lab at odds with Nvidia

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on July 27 backed U.S. limits on advanced chip exports to China and anti-smuggling measures, tying the stance to open-weights policy — the practice of releasing model parameters publicly. Nvidia, which gathered 50 signatories for a pro-open-weights letter by July 25, has loudly opposed those same export curbs. The two now sit on opposite sides of frontier-AI governance.
