Russia's FSB arrests man accused of spying for New Zealand

Russia's security service, the FSB, said on 27 July 2026 it arrested a Khabarovsk resident, born 1971, on treason charges for allegedly spying for New Zealand's intelligence service, the NZSIS. The FSB released detention video but its claims are unverified. The NZSIS declined to comment, saying Russian state media are "often not a reliable source of accurate reporting." Ministers referred queries to the agency.
