FSB arrests Russian man in Khabarovsk, accuses him of spying for New Zealand
Russia's FSB announced on 27 July 2026 that it arrested a Khabarovsk resident, born 1971, on treason charges for allegedly spying for New Zealand's intelligence service, the NZSIS. The FSB released video of the detention but its claims remain unverified. The NZSIS declined to comment, warning Russian state media are "often not a reliable source of accurate reporting." Ministers referred queries to the agency.
