Russia says it caught a spy working for New Zealand
Russia's security agency said on 27 July 2026 it arrested a man in the city of Khabarovsk, born 1971, accusing him of spying for New Zealand. The agency released video of the arrest but its claims remain unverified. New Zealand's spy agency, the NZSIS, would not comment, saying Russian state media are "often not a reliable source of accurate reporting." Ministers referred questions to the agency.
