Family of Indigenous Man Who Died in NT Police Custody Takes Non-Prosecution Decision to Supreme Court
Kumanjayi White's family filed NT Supreme Court proceedings to learn who decided not to charge officers involved in his death after a restraint in a Coles supermarket. The DPP cited "no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution." The family, represented by lawyer George Newhouse, seeks reasons under the Victims of Crime Charter and reconsideration. A coronial inquest is set for Alice Springs in April 2027.
