Carney calls three Aug. 31 by-elections with Liberal majority at stake

Prime Minister Mark Carney issued writs July 26 for Aug. 31 by-elections in North Vancouver—Capilano, Beaches—East York, and Chicoutimi—Le Fjord. The seats opened when Liberal MPs Jonathan Wilkinson and Nathaniel Erskine-Smith left, and Conservative MP Richard Martel moved to the Senate. The Liberals must win at least one to hold their House of Commons majority.
