Cairngorms Wildfire Still Uncontained After Flare-Up

Police Scotland declared a major incident near Nethy Bridge on 15 July 2026 after shifting winds worsened the Cairngorms wildfire. A 23 July flare-up confirmed containment had not stabilised. Over 500 firefighters were mobilised in total. Smoke reached Aberdeen, 90 km northeast. The fire remained active as of 25 July.
