Anthropic's Claude Opus 5 matches Fable 5 at half the cost

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 on July 24, 2026. On CursorBench 3.2 (a coding benchmark), it scores within 0.5% of Fable 5's peak at half the cost per task. On OSWorld 2.0 (an OS automation benchmark), it surpasses Fable 5 at roughly a third of the cost. Opus 5 is the new default on Claude Max and strongest model on Claude Pro. It trails Mythos 5 on cybersecurity tasks.
