Anthropic's Claude Opus 5 matches Fable 5 at half the cost

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 on July 24, 2026. On CursorBench 3.2, it scores within 0.5% of Fable 5's peak at half the cost per task. On OSWorld 2.0, it surpasses Fable 5's best at roughly a third of the cost. It is the new default on Claude Max and strongest model on Claude Pro. Opus 5 trails Mythos 5 on cybersecurity tasks.
