President Trump imposed tariffs of 10% and 12.5% on goods from 60 trading partners, including Canada and the European Union, NPR and Reuters reported July 24, 2026. The duties replace prior tariffs set to expire. The White House directed the U.S. Trade Representative to impose them under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows tariffs on unfair trade practices.
