Trump Places New Import Taxes on 60 Countries, Including Canada

President Trump placed new import taxes of 10% and 12.5% on goods from 60 trading partners, including Canada and the European Union, NPR and Reuters reported July 24, 2026. An import tax is a fee charged on foreign goods entering the U.S. These new fees replace older ones that were set to end. The White House ordered the change under a 1974 trade law.
