DNC Panel Picks South Carolina to Lead 2028 Democratic Primary Calendar

A DNC Rules and Bylaws panel voted July 24, 2026, to recommend South Carolina hold the first 2028 Democratic presidential primary on January 22, 2028. Nevada and New Hampshire would follow, then New Mexico, Michigan, and Virginia. Only six states would vote before Super Tuesday on March 7, 2028. The full DNC votes in August 2026.
