DNC Panel Recommends South Carolina First in 2028 Democratic Primary Calendar

The DNC Rules and Bylaws panel voted July 24, 2026, to recommend South Carolina hold the first 2028 Democratic presidential primary on January 22, 2028. Nevada and New Hampshire would follow, then New Mexico, Michigan, and Virginia. Only six states would vote before Super Tuesday on March 7, 2028. The full DNC will hold a final vote in August 2026.
